Avis Laura Riehl

ROCHESTER -Avis L. Riehl, 91, died on Thursday, February 20, 2013 at Madonna Towers in Rochester. Avis was born in Spring Valley, MN on October 4, 1921 to William and Emma (Theiss) Moeller.She married Cyrus Riehl in Spring Valley on October 9, 1940.They were farmers for 23 years in Spring Valley prior to moving to Rochester in the 1970's.Avis was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a member of the quilting club.She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and flowers. Avis is survived by nieces and nephews, Marilyn (Tom) Olson, of Rochester, Virgil (Cathy) Moeller, of Spring Valley, Curtis Moeller, of Spring Valley, Donna Herriott, of Rochester, Diane (Roger) Hamer, of Salem, MO, Rhonda (Richard) Degand, of Victoria, TX, Gary (Cindy) Krahn, Wykoff, Duane (Susan) Krahn, of Wykoff, Carolyn (Carroll) Evers, of Wykoff, Marvin (Patricia) Schulz, of Albert Lea, Beverly Welzin, of Portage, IN, Barb (Jerry) Bush, of Spring Valley, Betty (Dan Long), of Valparaiso, IN, James (Nancy) Costello, of Stewartville, and Brenda Churchill, of Rushford; brother-in-laws, James Costello and Kermit Schulz of Spring Valley; and sister-in-law, Ruth Estes, of Rushford. Avis is preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus; a son, Harlan; her parents; two brothers, Alfred and Art; and a sister, Alice. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 869 7th Ave SE, with Rev. Adam Koglin officiating.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Spring Valley Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
