SHE MARRIED THEODORE (TED) DEANER, SR.AND THEN HAD A SON ON JANUARY 23RD, 1936, THEODORE (TEDDY) DEANER, JR. ARLENE CONTRACTED POLIO AND DURING HER LONG STAY IN THE HOSPITAL SHE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET SISTER ELIZABETH KENNEY, ENJOYED A LONG TALK WITH ROSALIND RUSSELL, AND THEN HAD HER PICTURE TAKEN WITH THE ACTRESS. A QUOTATION ATTRIBUTED TO THE RUSSELL APTLY DESCRIBES ARLENE: "TAKING JOY IN LIVING IS A WOMAN'S BEST COSMETIC." ARLENE NEVER FELT THE NEED TO BE FANCY OR PUT ON AIRS. SHE WAS WHO SHE WAS--KIND, CARING, GENEROUS, LOVING AND ALWAYS QUICK WITH A JOKE. ARLENE FOUND BEAUTY AND HAPPINESS IN THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE THAT MANY PEOPLE MISS. SHE LOVED TO HEAR THE SONGBIRDS SING, TO HEAR THE CAT IN HER LAP PURR AS SHE WOULD STROKE ITS SOFT FUR, BAKED COOKIES AND MADE RASPBERRY PIES, SPOILED HER GRANDCHILDREN, AND SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.SHE TOOK PLEASURE IN SIMPLICITY. ARLENE MOVED INTO CHARTER HOUSE DECEMBER 4TH, 2003 IN ROCHESTER, MN. ARLENE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND, TED DEANER SR., PARENTS, ANTON AND CLARA PETERSON, BROTHER CARL PETERSON, AND SISTER MYRTLE PAUL, DAUGHTER IN LAW, JANET (HELFAND) DEANER. ARLENE IS SURVIVED BY HER SON, TED DEANER JR., GRANDSON, HUGH DEANER, GRANDDAUGHTER, ANNE DEANER, ANNES HUSBAND MORRIS ZIMMERMAN, AND GREAT GRANDSON ELI ZIMMERMAN.
