Antanas "Tony" Bivainis

A Mass of Christian Burial for Antanas "Tony" Bivainis, 94, of Rochester will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 27, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Antanas Bivainis was born on February 18, 2019 in Utena, Lithuania. He passed away on December 22, 2019 at Cottagewood in Rochester. At the age of 15, he went to Tailoring School and later he joined the German Army during WWII. The Russians forced the German Army out of Lithuania and so he joined the English Army. On January 31, 1950, he married Hildegard Koerner in Bochum, Germany. They moved to Canada and in 1957 they moved to Rochester. Antanas worked as a Tailor for all the Men's Clothing Stores and later as a Machinist for IBM for 33 years, retiring in 1986. Antanas enjoyed fishing and wintering in McAllan, Texas. He was loved by everyone. Survivors include his wife, Hildegard of Rochester; his number one son, Eddy Bivainis of Rochester; his daughter, Cindy (Paul) Vermilyea of Rochester, and his sister, Loine of Lithuania. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Memorials can be directed to the family.
