Ann B. Lichty Rochester, MN Anna Louis (Bechtelheimer) Lichty (95) died Monday, November 21, 2011 at Charter House, Rochester, Minnesota. Named after her grandmother, Ann was born in Orange Township, Blackhawk County, Iowa on December 1, 1915 to Clyde and Jennie (Berkley) Bechtelheimer.She graduated from Orange Township Consolidated Schools in 1933, and Iowa State Teachers College.She taught school in Rensen, Iowa before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Robert F. Lichty in 1940.Ann and Bob lived and raised their three children in Austin, MN. Before moving to Charter House in 1993. Ann was a devoted wife and mother, loved by many.She was a lifelong PEO member, active member of the First Congregational Church in Austin and Rochester.She enjoyed sewing, cooking, bridge, music, reading and travel.She was an accomplished pianist and organist.She also took an avid interest in politics.Celebrating her 80's, Ann and friends went around the world.She hosted many, many gatherings of friends and family. Ann is survived by her children, R. Alan (Margaret) Lichty of Rochester Minnesota, Jane (Richard) Pearson of Durango, Colorado, and Betsy Lichty of Lakewood, Colorado.Also surviving are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.A sister, Mary Kay (Dick) Klingaman, of Waterloo, Iowa and a brother Thad (Vikki) Bechtelheimenr of Milton, Florida also survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Lichty, in 1994, as well as by her parents, two sisters and an infant great-granddaughter. The family suggests memorial to Mayo Hospice Program, the Congregational Church UCC Rochester, MN or PEO International Peace Scholarship Fund. A memorial service will take place in the spring.
