Alvin Hanenberger, 83, of Rochester, MN, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at his residence with family at his side with the help of Seasons Hospice. Alvin was born December 2, 1928 in Orion Township, MN, the 2nd son of William and Vella (Parker) Hanenberger.He was united in marriage to Lois Wright on January 4, 1951. Alvin farmed in the Rochester area until 1969.Then he moved the family with Dr. Hugh and Lillian Lynn to the state of Virginia where he managed Stonehedge Estate until 1996 when he retired.That same summer Alvin and Lois moved back to Rochester, MN for his remaining years. Alvin is survived by his wife, Lois of 61 years; two daughters, Barbara (Leonard) Nalls of Rockledge, FL and Brenda (Ricky McCleary) Sitter of Rochester; two granddaughters, Mellissa (Mike) Schinigoi of West Concord, MN and Barbara (Brian) Shingleton of Capon Bridge, WV; and three great grandchildren, Madison, Matthew, and Layla.He is also survived by three brothers, Roy, Edward, and Walter (Marie) Hanenberger, all of Rochester; sister-in-law, Marion Hanenberger of Rochester; and various nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; one brother, Raymond Hanenberger; two sisters, Edith Shoenfelder and Lucille (Everett) White; and two sister-in-laws, Gloria (Edward) Hanenberger and Elna (Roy) Hanenberger. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1503 2nd Ave NE, Rochester with the Reverend Paul Bauch officiating.Burial will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Eyota, MN.A visitation will be from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
