Allen E. Moe, 79, of Rochester, Minnesota went to his heavenly home and joined his wife, Barbara, at 10:10 PM on August 18, 2019 at Rochester Health Services West. Allen Edward Moe was born September 27, 1939 in Finley, North Dakota the son of Alvin and Lillie (Quarne) Moe. He graduated high school and studied at the Wahpeton School of Science. In 1957 Allen enlisted in the Army National Guard of North Dakota where he served as a Construction Machine Operator. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1965. Allen met his future wife, Barbara Larson in North Dakota and they were married on April 23, 1966 in Albert Lea, MN. They were blessed in 1973 with their son, Erik. The family resided in Rochester, MN where Allen worked for the United States Postal Service downtown Rochester, MN as a letter carrier, mail sorter and later boiler operator until his retirement. Allen loved spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, bike riding around Silver Lake and walking. He enjoyed driving and touring the states making sure he never drove the same road twice. Stopping to eat was always done at a family restaurant with homemade food not fast food. In his younger years he sat by his recliner and enjoyed his revolving pipe rack. He was a MN Twins and Green Bay Packers Fan. He was liberal and forward thinking and wasn't shy to share his political views to those that wanted to discuss politics. He loved to tinker, earned his commercial driver's license and was a lifelong learner. Allen was extremely proud of his granddaughter, Alanna, and her accomplishments. He is survived by his son, Erik (Brenda Nygren-Moe); granddaughter, Alanna Moe; sister-in-law, Sharon (Frank) Holway and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara (2018); three sisters, Grace Moe, LaVerne Mahoney and Ardell Moe. A heartfelt thanks to all who participated in his care in any manner. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, MN 55901.
