Allen C. Heinekamp, age 89, died March 26, 2015 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. A service of celebration of Allens life will be held at The Homestead at Rochester on Saturday April 11 at 1:00pm. Interment will in be at the First Presbyterian Church of Rochester, in their columbarium, on Saturday April 11 at 11:00am. Services will be officiated by Rev. Jay Rowland. Allen Carl Heinekamp was born in Chicago, IL to Conrad and Lillian Heinekamp on September 29, 1925. He was raised in Chicago and graduated from Crane Technical High School. His father died when he was a young child leaving his mother to raise five children during the depression. When he was nineteen, Allen enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Foggia, Italy and flew 19 missions over Europe as a waist gunner on a B-17 aircraft.After discharge, he began working at Superior Engraving as a photoengraver and spent 36 years in that trade. In 1950, Allen married Nina Guyette in Antigo, WI and made their home in Lisle, IL. They had three children of their own and became a licensed foster home, raising several foster children. Nina preceded him in death in 1980. Allen was active in the his church serving as elder and treasurer and helped establish Lumen Christi Presbyterian Church in Naperville, IL. He was an accomplished woodworker and cabinetmaker all his life and maintained a workshop as long as he was able. In 1983, Allen married Donnelly Lindholm in Naperville and they made their home in Bolingbrook, IL. After retirement, Allen had a small business restoring antique furniture, which grew into an antique business after Donnelly retired.They traveled throughout the Midwest participating in antique shows and enjoyed meeting people. They also travelled extensively during these years, visiting Europe several times and other places as well. In 1991, Allen and Donnelly moved to Rockford, IL. In 2000, they moved to Rochester, MN to Shorewood Senior Campus where they were active in organizing garage sales and New Years Eve parties. In 2006, they moved to The Homestead in Rochester, becoming less active due to declining health. In addition to his first wife, Allen was preceded in death by daughter, Beth, in 1999. His brothers Harold and Raymond and sister Bernice have also passed away. Survivors beside his wife Donnelly include sons Reid (Debbie) Heinekamp, Sandwich, IL; Eric (Patricia) Heinekamp, Naperville, IL; and foster son Tony (Pam) Campos, Montgomery, IL; two stepsons, Allan (Kathleen) Lindholm, Estacada, OR; John Lindholm, Benecia, CA; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and brother Roy (Margie), Oak Park, IL. The family requests that memorials go to the donors choice.
