Alice J. O'Groske, age 80, of Byron, Minnesota died Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester, MN. Alice Janette O'Groske was born April 7, 1941 in Rochester, Minnesota the daughter of George and Ella (Goldbeck) Mitchell. She was a graduate of the first class at John Marshall High School. She married Walter O'Groske Jr. on June 24, 1962. They resided in rural Elgin, Rochester and Byron. Alice worked as a bookkeeper for Postier & Eggers/Domaille Motors in Rochester along with counting the Sunday offering for Bethel Lutheran Church for over 40 years. She was also a lunch lady at the Byron schools. She was the Secretary, Treasurer and held many local and state offices for United Commercial Travelers over the past 45 years, as well as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Brookmoor Townhome Association for 20 years. Alice was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church and United Commercial Travelers. She was a great baker and made the best cookies, bars and biscuits. Her hobbies included meeting with the Chat and Chew ladies, going to the casino with anyone willing to go with her, spending time with her children and grandchildren and dancing with Walt when she was younger. She always had a Swiss Cake Roll in her freezer for her grandsons when they stopped by. The family would like to extend special thanks to her neighbor, Nancy Connelly, and to the staff at Seasons Hospice House for taking such good care of her. She is survived by her children, Jolene O'Groske (David Crosby) of Saukville, WI, Dale (Shelly) O'Groske of Lake City, MN and Lisa (Chris) Munn of Rochester, MN; two grandchildren, Reed and Ryan O'Groske of Byron, MN; brother, Robert (Joan) Mitchell of Rochester, MN; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; sister, Dorothy; brothers, Don, Lowell, Richard and Glenn. A memorial service for Alice will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 3, 2021 at Bethel Lutheran Church 810 3rd Avenue SE, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Friday at the church. Interment will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Those in attendance will be required to wear a mask. Memorials are preferred to Bethel Lutheran Church or Seasons Hospice House.
