Alice M. Mellin, 94, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2017 at Shorewood in Rochester, MN. Alice Martha Anderson was born at home on the family farm in Enterprise Township, Jackson, MN on May 15, 1923 to Martin and Amalia (Hanson) Anderson. After graduation from Jackson High School in 1941, she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. On October 2, 1944 she married Malcolm Mellin in Minneapolis. They moved to Rochester in 1953 where they raised their family. In 1983 she moved with her husband to Sun City West, AZ, although they spent their summers in northern MN where they enjoyed spending time at their cabin near Bigfork, MN. After the death of her husband she returned to MN, first residing in Bigfork, MN before returning to Rochester in 2014. Alice enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, needlework, travel and playing bridge. She volunteered in her children's classrooms and was an active member of Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester before retiring to Sun City West. To all who knew her she brought constant joy throughout her life. Alice is survived by her daughter, Marolee (Steve) Christopherson of Rochester, and sons, Craig (Cindy) Mellin of Spooner, WI, and Chris (Shahzada) Mellin of Pearland, TX; former daughter-in-law, Barbara Mellin; seven grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters, 3 half-sisters and a half-brother. Private interment will be at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis.
