Rochester-A Memorial Service for Alfred (Al) Schei, age 74, who died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Seasons Hospice after a lenghthy illness, will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011.Inurnment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Alfred Jerome Schei was born in Faribault, MN June 30, 1936.He graduated from Kenyon High School Class of 1954.He attended Business College in Minneapolis for one year. He served in the US Army,1955-1957 and was stationedin Germany.He returned to Rochester and worked in Fire and Saftey for the Rochester Volunteer Fire Department.In 1959 he went to work for the Mayo Clinic. He married Pearl Krusmark in 1961 and they were later divorced. In 1977 he married Justine Miller. Al worked as a Labratotry Technician in the GI Department and retired in 1998 after 39 years. He enjoyed fixing things like radio and televisions and liked to play cards on the computer. He is survived by his wife, Justine; a daughter, Heidi Schei of Rochester, MN; stepchildren, Bob Schei (Barbara) of Rochester and Dorothy Heyn of Elgin, MN; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and one sister; Connie Bird of Byron, MN.He was precededin death by a stepdaughter, Vicki Copley; and his parents, Alfred Johanes and Margaret (Durland ) Schei.
