Albert Big Al Blight, 84, of Byron, Minnesota, died unexpectedly but peacefully Friday, November 13, 2015, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm Saturday, November 21, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Pl NW, Rochester, MN, 55901. Pastor John DuBall will officiate. Internment of his ashes will be held at a later date when he is laid to rest next to his beloved wife Marjorie in Greenlawn Cemetery in Windsor, Ontario. Those wishing to leave a message for the family may do so at www.ranfranzandvinefh.com Albert was born July 25, 1931 in Sexsmith, Alberta, Canada to Marshall and Helen (Tesar) Blight. On August 3, 1957 he married his best friend, Marjorie Marge Edith Ellis in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Albert was employed as a data processing supervisor for Chrysler Motor Company, first in Canada and then in the United States. In 1966, he relocated his family from Windsor, Ontario to St. Clair Shores, Michigan. After retirement, he and Marge returned to Canada, settling into his fathers home in LaSalle, Ontario, where they were active in their parish, St. Andrews Anglican Church. After Marges death in 2002, he wanted to be closer to family, and in 2005, he moved into a home on his daughters property in Byron MN, where he enjoyed his last decade of life. He was an avid cook and organic gardener. He also enjoyed interacting with friends old and new on the internet, feeding the abundant wildlife on the property, caring for his cats Stripes, Simon and Percy, and dog-sitting for his daughters dog Teddy. Albert is survived by his son, Ralph Charles Blight of Nashville, TN, his daughter Cynthia Helen Irma Blight (McCollough) of Byron, MN, a faithful son-in-law Kevin McCollough, and two grandchildren, Brian and Shannon McCollough. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Helen, and his wife Marjorie Edith Blight. This gentle giant will be missed by all who knew him.
