Albert J. Finley, 90, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Cottagewood Senior Communities. Albert was born December 19, 1928 in Chatfield, MN to Walter and Winniford (Markham) Finley. Albert worked as a custom combiner in Devils Lake, ND before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Okinowa Japan. After his time in the Army, Albert came home and married the love of his life, Barbara Ballah on May 29, 1953 in Rochester. Albert went to work for Crenlo as a tool and die maker, retiring in 1991 after 30 years of service. Albert enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping but above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Albert was patriotic and loved to collect eagles. He was a member of the Rochester V.F.W., and the American Legion. He loved to tease others, was a kid at heart and a jokester. Albert was hardworking, quiet and a great listener. Albert is survived by his children, Kim (Dave) Boyum of Mantorville, MN; son, Bruce (Melodie) Finley of Turtle Rivers (Bemidji), MN; grandchildren, Jeremy (Jill) Quandt, Glenn (Amanda) Boyum, Andrea (Keith) Kieffer, Marshall (Katrine) Rausch; great-grandchildren, Addy and Aiden Quandt, Scarlett and Felicity Boyum, Luke Rausch, Hadley and Kaston Kieffer; sister, Kay (David) Powell and brother, Howard Finley. Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; 7 brothers and 6 sisters. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial, Rochester V.F.W., Stewartville American Legion or to Mayo Clinic Hospice.
