ROCHESTER - Albert "Al" R. Pruett, 90, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Golden Living Center East in Rochester. Al was born in St. Patrick, MO on May 16, 1920 to William and Rose (Stice) Pruett. He entered the Marine Corps in 1941. Al was onboard the battleship Pennsylvania as a Marine guard in Pearl Harbor and though his ship was damaged on December 7, 1941, he survived uninjured. He married Jennie Roseboom on October 29, 1943 in San Diego, CA. Al was a dedicated, passionate, and longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. Al was a gifted conversationalist who was very generous with his time, life experiences, and set a guiding example as patriarch to the Pruett family. He will be missed, but his legacy endures. Al is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jennie; three children, Steven Pruett, of Rochester, Norman Pruett, of Rochester, and Michael (Dawn) Pruett, of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Pruett, of Rochester, Jonathan (Cristina) Pruett, of Rochester, Jason (Gretchen) Pruett, of Minneapolis, Christine (Marv) Benson, of Chatfield, Michelle Pruett, of Rochester, Jessica (Jeb) Pruett-Taylor, of Raeford, NC, and Justin Pruett, of Rochester; six great-grandchildren, Hannah Pruett, of Rochester, Arthur Pruett, of Minneapolis, Wesley Pruett, of Minneapolis, Crystal (Adam) Landherr, of Honolulu, HI, Nathan (Meghan Ryan) Pruett, of Rochester, and Alyssa Pruett, of Rochester; and one great-great grandchild, Peyton Ryan, of Rochester.Al is the last of 18 children. He is also preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church, 5905 Silas Dent Rd. NW, with Rev. Chuck Johnston officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
