Alan C. Maves, 66, of Rochester, MN, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Fairview Hospital in Burnsville, MN.
Alan Charles Maves was born on May 8, 1957, in Hayfield, MN to parents Alvin and Mary (Hall) Maves. After graduating from Hayfield Secondary, class of 1975, Alan joined the United States Army and served from 1975 to 1978. On August 15, 1981, in Rochester, MN, Alan married the love of his life, Cynthia Ann Grabarkiewicz. He later attended Winona State University where he earned a bachelor degree in Accounting in 1983. In 1984, Alan became a Certified Public Accountant as well as shareholder of Wilson Tibor & Maves, Ltd, retiring in 2022.
Alan lived a life of service, serving as treasure for many organization, assisting with Honor Flights where he shuttled military veterans to Washington DC for memorials, working with a the Soldier Field Memorial, and working with the local GOP. With Alan's love for his country he had planned to take many road trips with his pull-behind camper and stop at every national treasure, stretching from the east coast to the west coast.
Alan was active in the community serving as a faith formation teacher for Pax Christi Church, youth football coach, and with the Boy Scouts of America: Pack 99 and Troop 99, where he held the titles of treasurer, Cub Master, and Scout Master.
Alan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially loved his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his time spent down at his Florida residence. You could often find Alan enjoying long rides on his CAN-AM Spyder, or catching up with friends down at Beetles Bar and Grill.
Alan is survived by his sons, Pierre Maves of Rochester, Adam (Melissa) Maves of Rochester,, and Charles Maves of Rochester; grandchildren, Theodore "Teddy", Jocelyn "JoJo", Gabrielle "Gabby", Ava, and Aidan; siblings Patricia Maves, Sally (Bill) Decker, Catherine (Randy) Olson, and Monica (Jerome) Leichtnam.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Maves (September 13, 2019); and his parents, Alvin and Mary.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 14 starting at 11:00 a.m. at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester, Minnesota. A Visitation will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on Monday, May 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
