Adelaide Reese Hodgson, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully on September 19, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. She was born Adelaide Jackson Phraner on December 3, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY.She spent her primary years in Brooklyn, NY, Washington DC and Stony Brook, NY.Adelaide graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Mount Holyoke College in 1953.After college, she went to work for First Boston, in New York, NY working in the asset management department.Shortly thereafter, she met and married David F. Reese in 1955.They moved to Rochester, MN permanently in 1964 where they raised their 3 children. She received an MBA from the University of Minnesota and joined First Bank in 1974, where she enjoyed a very rewarding and successful career, rising to the position of Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager.She retired in 1993. After being widowed in 1989, Adelaide met and married Dr. John Hodgson in 1996 and enjoyed a loving marriage until his death in May, 2012. Adelaide was an avid tennis player and continued to play throughout her entire life, a fantastic chef, an active member of several Investment Clubs and a Rotarian. She also enjoyed the local theater and symphony. She will forever be remembered for her devotion and generosity to her family, friends and community, her vibrant personality and her famous 100 watt smile. Adelaide was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Dr. David Reese in 1989 and beloved husband of 16 years, Dr. John Hodgson in 2012, parents Stanley and Dorothy Phraner, sisters Elizabeth and Dorothy, and a brother Stanley. She is survived by her brother Leighton, three children: Leighton (Katie), Charles (Cyndi) and Elizabeth and eight grandchildren: Danielle, Nicolette, Leighton, Jackson, Emma, Louise, Eliza, and Sarah. Memorial service will be held at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes on Monday, September 24 at 4:00pm.There will be a visiting hour from 3-4 and cookies and coffee to follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Rochester Area Foundation, 400 South Broadway, Rochester, MN 55904.
