Aasta Hodne

ROCHESTER -Aasta Hodne, 99, died on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Aasta was born in Kristiansund, Norway on July 25, 1912.She graduated from the Aker School of Nursing in Oslo, Norway in 1942 as an RN.Aasta immigrated to the United States in 1948 and worked as an RN in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Los Angeles before moving to Rochester in 1949.In Rochester, she worked at Methodist Hospital as a private and general duty nurse until she retired in 1978.Ms. Hodne was a lifetime member of the Sons of Norway, Rachel's Circle, and belonged to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester. Aasta is survived by her nephew, Jan Hodne, of Littleton, CO; and also nieces and nephews in Norway. Aasta is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and four sisters. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1212 12th Ave. NW with Rev. Karna Hagen officiating.
